My son and I took part in a contest from Talenthouse. The goal was to cover a Neil Young song from his album "Americana". We made "Jesus Chariot", and we want to share it with you.

Mia filo kaj mi partoprenis en konkurso farnte kantajxo de la lasta albumo de Neil Young. Ni ludis "Jesus Chariot". Vi povas auxdi gxin sekvante la ligilon cxe la fino de tiu teksto. Se ankaux vi povas vocxdoni al ni, ni estus dankinda. Tamen cxu tio ne eblas, ni dankus se vi povas auxdi la kantajxon.

Norton Guitar parte 4 - Restaurando la pala y tapando agujeros - Fixing the headstock and filling some holes - Riparante la kapon kaj plenante kelkajn truojn

Como ya vimos, la pala estaba en una condición crítica, con agujeros mal realizados por alguna mano impiadosa. Llenamos los agujeros con una mezcla de aserrín y cola vinílica y luego, fuimos afinando toda la pala para que el espesor de la misma fuera menor, ya que era demasiado ancho para ue las clavijas calzasen correctamente. En el cuerpo llenamos también algunos agujeros con la misma mezcla.

As we already saw, the headstock was in critical condition, because the action of a former guitar hater, with holes in places where there should be wood. We filled them with a mix of sawdust and glue. Then we made thiner the headstock as there was too tick for the tuners. We filled some holes in the body using the same mix.

Kiel ni vidis la kapo de la gitaro estis tre malbona riparita enhavante truojn kie oni devis trovi lignon. Do ni fiksis ilin per miksado de gluo kaj ligna polvo, kaj ni faris la kapon iomete mallargxa, por povi enmeti la agordigajn najlojn. Ni ankaux fiksis per la sama miksado kelkajn truojn en la korpo de la gitaro.

Norton Guitar - Parte 3 Poniendo el alma / Part 3: Adding a truss rod / Tria parto: Aldonante "Truss Rod"-n (es- en - eo)

La guitarra no tenía alma (o tensor) de fábrica, por lo que, decidimos agregarle una. Una varilla roscada de bronce, un torillo de cabeza allen y una placa de latón nos sirvieron a tal propósito. Luego de llevar a soldar la varilla a la cabeza del tornillo allen, hicimos el hueco para el alma, por medio de una fresa y una vez colocada en su posición, pegamos el diapasón, ya sin tastes, por medio de cola vinílica. Por medio de sargentos, apretamos para lograr un pegado definitivo.

The guitar had no truss rod, so we decided to add one. A brass rod, with an Allen head screw added to it and a piece of brass were good for that. Then we hollowed the middle of the neck, using a drill, and once the truss rod was in the correct position, we glued on it the fingerboard. We added pressure with clamps.

La gitaro ne havis "Truss Rod"-n. Do ni decidis enmeti unu en gxi. Por fari tion ni uzis bronzan bastonon, "allen"-n sxraubon kaj latunan pecon. Ni faris kanalon por enmeti gxin kaj posti ni gluis la fingrotabulon kaj premis gxin per sxraubokrampoj.

Strange strings (... and some circuit bending)

En "Los Barcos Solares de Rapa Nui" además de los instrumentos convencionales, utilicé algunas fuentes sonoras poco usuales. De un tiempo a esta parte me siento atraído por el circuit bending y para este disco utilicé dos juguetes circuitbendeados, el primero es un walkie talkie de Spider Man y el segundo un teléfono que mi hijo usaba cuando era más chico. Unos potenciómetros aquí y allá, interruptores, un soldador y dos nuevos instrumentos!! (El teléfono de hecho ya fue usado en el temas "The Quest" de "Vacaciones en Gstaad", junto a mi hijo. Hay un par de walkie talkies esperando su próxima transformación. En cuanto a la raqueta de tenis, es una Dunlop, de la época en que éstas eran hechas de madera. Hace un tiempo y con la ayuda de mi suegro, la convertí en una lap steele guitar de tres cuertas (o un diddley bow según se mire). Fue usada en el tema "Fragmentoj" de "Barcos Solares..." y tocada con un slide que hicimos a partir de un pedazo de caño.

In "Los Barcos Solares de Rapa Nui" beside the conventional instruments, I performed with non-usual sound fonts. I feel atracted by circuit bending and for this album I used a couple of circuit bent toys, the first one a Spider Man walkie talkie and the second one a toy telephone that my son used to play with. Some potentiometers here and there, switches and an iron soldering and two new instruments!! (In fact the telephone was already used in the track "The Quest" from "Vacaciones en Gstaad", an album made with my son). There are a couple of walkie talkies ready for transformation. Regarding the tennis raqcuet. It is from the time in which they were made of wood. With the help of my father in law, I built a lap steele guitar with three strings (or if you prefer a didley bow). It appears on the song "Fragmentoj" from "Los Barcos Solares de Rapa Nui", and it is played with a slide made of a tube.

En "Los Barcos Solares de Rapa Nui" komre de la tradiciaj instrumentoj mi uzis kelkajn bizarajn sonfontojn. Mi tre sxatas "circuit bending" kaj mi faris tion al du ludiloj, Spider Man radio kaj ludtelefono kiun uzis mia filo. Fakte la telefono estis uzita ankaux en la albumo "Vacaciones en Gstaad" de Gstaad Bassethounds farita kune kun mia filo. Mi havas ankaux kelkaj artefaktoj kiuj mi prilaboros. Pri la tenisrakedo, gxi estas el ligno kaj kune kun mia bopatro mi farigis gxin "lap steel guitar" kun tri kordoj. Gxi aperas en "Fragmentoj" el "Barcos Solares de Rapa Nui". Ovnis en la Noche de Fez al Bali (Vacaciones en Gstaad track 5) (Es - En - Eo)

Último track de "Vacaciones en Gstaad". El título hace referencia a un lugar en Marruecos. El tema se basa en un ritmo creado por mi hijo Franco en el clásico software Beat 2000. A ello se suma una base compuesta en el tracker Psycle, programa creado por el legendario Arguru. Sobre ello juegan los instrumentos solistas, saxofón alto, guitarra electrica con wah wah, teclado y melodica (mi Samick Melodihorn). Todos ellos haciendo referencias a escalas de un sonido arábigo. El tema cierra con una combinación de ruidos de sintetizador mezclados con ruidos creados por medio del DeathRayFree, un programa para Game Boy. Last track from "Vacaciones en Gstaad". The title refers to a place in Morocco. The piece is based on a rhtythm created by my son Franco using the clasic software Beat 2000. Added to this, we found a base created using the Psycle tracker (program created by soft legend Arguru). Over this the lead voices play: alto sax,organ, electric guitar with wah wah and melodica (my Samick Melodihorn). All of them remainding arab scales. The piece ends with a mix of noise created by synthesizer and a Game Boy software, Death Ray Free. You can donwload for free the complete album for free here.

Es un trabajo de música experimental que combina distintas fuentes sonoras, desde instrumentos tradicionales (guitarra, guitarra eléctrica, saxofón, clarinete) hasta diversos programas de creación musical (Re-Birth, Beat 2000, DeathRayFree para Game Boy, Psycle). The first album by Gstaad Basset Hounds, Vacaciones en Gstaad (Holidays in Gstaad), is now available for free. You can download it following the link at the end of this article. This CD is an experimental work that joins different soundfonts from traditional instruments (guitar, electric guitar, sax, clarinet) to software (Re-birth, Beat 2000, DeathRay Free for Game boy, Psycle). Gstaad Basset Hounds ( Arte de Tapa - Cover art - Kovrilo)

Ya está la portada del disco de Gstaad Basset Hounds. Aquí muestro una evolución de la misma desde sus inicios hasta la conclusión. Para el arte de tapa usé una técnica mixta (principalemente tintas, acuarelas, lápices de color, lápices acuarelables y también algo de marcador, pasteles a la tiza y témpera).

You can see the cover of the Gstaad Basset Hounds album. You can see an evolution of the art from early stages till the final art. I used a mixed technique (mainly inks, watercolour, colour pencils and watercolour pencils, and also some tempera, marker pens and pastels).
